Designed by Jean-Louis Marçot, author of several contributions to the understanding of France?s colonial past, this exhibition takes us back in 12 dates and 13 focuses to the beginnings of the colonization of what was to become "Algeria".
These origins, too often forgotten or misrepresented, bear the seeds of the tragic outcome from which several generations of Algerians, Berbers, Arabs and Europeans have suffered.
To immerse oneself in this period is to give oneself a chance to understand the extreme violence that marked it. Beyond opinions, feelings, emotions and fractured or confronted memories, it means embracing the past and opening up more peacefully to the future.
