Le Père-Noël révise son traîneau et Olentzero prépare son charbon : la magie de Noël s’empare d’Hendaye !
Dès le 1er décembre, les cloches de Noël retentissent déjà, Hendaye se pare de ses habits de fête, et les décorations illuminent chaque coin de rue, dès la fin d’après-midi.
In the Basque Country, Olentzero, a character emblematic of Basque culture and mythology, descends from the mountains at the end of the year and wanders through the streets.
Despite his unattractive face, darkened by the coal he carries on his back, he is the messenger of light, representing the winter solstice.
He will be handing out sweets to the best-behaved children on December 24.
As for Santa Claus, he’ll be making a special appearance in the parade a few days before Christmas Eve.
