A conference and a film...

The Pyrenees are home to many forgotten mines, often in places that have become inaccessible.

Although the first mines date back to Antiquity, it was the industrial revolution and its need for metals that triggered their development in the 19th and 20th centuries, with a whole range of techniques that were new at the time: overhead cables, explosives, railroads, etc.

These mines are now closed, and a handful of speleologists have resumed their exploration, accompanied by a few scientists.

Galleries, shafts, railroads, astonishing mineral neoformations at the heart of our mountains: from the Basque country to the central Pyrenees, images to plunge into an unusual heritage, and into a human history.

The film "Trou de Mémoire" was awarded the prize for originality at the UIS (Union Internationale de Spéléologie) congress in 2022.
