Every winter, in mid-January, Wetlands International organizes another waterbird census.

One of the objectives of this count is to estimate the population size of each species (trends in numbers, population distribution and evolution), in order to identify the main wintering and staging sites, as well as priority sites for the conservation of these species.

CPIE Littoral Basque and its partners in Irun and Hondarribia will be counting all the functional entities of Txingudi Bay, each simultaneously, thanks to several teams spread out over the field.
