By Oier Araolaza Arrieta.

Over the past few years, Olentzero has gone from being a potbellied, drunken coalman who came down from the mountains to being as elegant as a bank manager. Today, Olentzero appears with a clean face, tidy clothes and a shaved beard, with Mari Domingi at his side.

It's hard to recognize the forester who used to carry coal in his sack. He looks more like a salesman charging expensive purchases by credit card.
It's said that past experiences teach us how to react in the future, and to decide which Olentzero we want, we'll go back to the origins to learn about the winter solstice, burning tree trunks in the fire, and the evolution of Basque rites.

We'll reflect on the main symbols of Christmas, taking into account history, change, economics and gender.
