Opened on July 17, 2024, La Cit\u00e9 des M\u00e9moires – Andaye, Oroitzapenen Hiria takes you on a journey from witchcraft in the 17th<\/sup> century to the great conflicts of the 20th century, via neo-Basque architecture, smuggling, gastronomy and, of course, the border and customs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 9 rooms feature numerous interactive modules and varied collections, with copies of major works, including Goya, from Versailles, the Grand Palais in Paris, museums in Madrid and London… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A must-see for all ages. Emotions guaranteed! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Andaye (the commune’s 17th-century<\/sup> spelling), the City of Memories – Oroitzapenen Hiria” <\/strong>takes you from the origins of Basque mythology to the opening of the border crossing with the Schengen agreements, via the conflicts on the banks of the Bidassoa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site skilfully combines exhibition spaces with copies of major works<\/strong> from Versailles and European museums, and interactive modules <\/strong>to appeal to all audiences<\/strong>. <\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n
