The Corniche Basque is a protected natural area stretching from Ciboure to Hendaye, over a distance of around ten kilometers.<\/h2>\n\n<\/div>\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

With its policy of preserving sensitive natural areas, Hendaye also has a “wild” side<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and at the foot of the Pyrenees, discover the flysch<\/strong>, impressive rock formations in vertical strata, below the Domaine d’Abbadia, which gives the Corniche Basque its charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site is characterized by steep cliffs, coves and two famous rocks, “les Jumeaux<\/strong> “, which bear witness to the retreat of the coastline. In just a few hundred meters, the cliffs tell the story of millions of years of earth history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vast meadows, Atlantic moorland and wind-sculpted copses create a natural setting that contrasts with the nearby towns of Hendaye and Biarritz.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

When you arrive in Hendaye, the Maison de la Corniche<\/a> (or Asporotsttipi farmhouse) is the gateway to the Domaine d’Abbadia<\/strong>, and is none other than the Corniche Basque interpretation center: we’ll tell you all about it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral<\/strong>, this former Basque farmhouse is open to all free of charge<\/strong>, and is particularly suitable for families. Its permanent interactive exhibition allows you to discover the particularities and secrets of the Corniche Basque<\/strong>.Geology, flora, fauna, human activities, this natural area will no longer hold any secrets for you!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Maison de la Corniche is open all year round to welcome hikers wishing to explore the Domaine d’Abbadia or enjoy a view of the ocean<\/strong>. Admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
