Irun
With its market, fashionable boutiques, traditional restaurants and popular cafés, Irun is a lively community with more than 2000 years of history, as the remains of the Roman bridge of Oiasso shows. Visitors can also enjoy the opportunity of a break in the 3 Crowns nature park.
Hondarribia
Nestled between Mount Jaizkibel and the mouth of the Bidasoa River, Hondarribia harbours a medieval old quarter with very valuable buildings, and a fishermen's district: the Marina, with lively terraces next to brightly coloured houses and balconies full of flowers.
Designated a Historic-Artistic Monument, the heart of the old town guards a great treasure: the parish church, where Louis XIV and the Infanta Maria Teresa were wedded. Plaza de Armas square is overshadowed by the former castle of Carlos V, which was turned into a state-run luxury hotel in 1968.
