Bisasoa-Txingudi Consorcium
Established in 1998, the Consortium Bidasoa-Txingudi was the first model of the "European Community of Townships".
It brought together the towns of Irun and Hondarribia, on the Spanish side, and of Hendaye, in France, to form an agglomeration of 90,000 inhabitants.
The chairmanship is ensured each year by one of the mayors.
The three communities collaborate on daily affairs in several areas, such as social affairs, sports, culture, and tourism. At the same time, the Consortium seeks to develop the economy of the Txingudi basin, by strengthening relationships with companies, improving communications, and carrying out studies of space evaluation.
The Bay Path is one of the key Bidasoa-Txingudi structuring achievements.
